Supreme Task Hospital Dedication: A New Chapter

Wednesday, June 18, 2008

Supreme Task Hospital Dedication: A New Chapter It was an amazing proposition to invite the equivalent of a Senator to inaugurate our small hospital situated far from modernization. And yet on March 24th Government Official and Minister of Works and Housing, Shri A. U. Singh Deo, pronounced the official inauguration of the Supreme Task Hospital and Netraniketan Eye Care Center in Balangir, Orissa. Local support was high as over 600 attended the three hour dedication and celebration. Over the next three days our medical team from the U. S. and India held a Medical Camp where over 500 patients were seen and treated. Following treatment, patients both Hindu and Christian, were asked if they wanted prayer. Many were deeply touched and wept during the simple prayer - Grace, Peace and Healing in the Name of Jesus. The week following the official opening an additional 120 life-changing eye-surgeries were performed at no cost to individuals who greatly needed but could not afford the procedure.

For those of you who have not heard, a 40,000 square foot hospital complex situated on 14 acres was offered to our ministry following the untimely death of the founder several years ago. The facility is located in an area of approximately 1.3 million people, 95% Hindu, hugely impoverished, many dying prematurely due to poor quality health care. One of our stipulations in taking the facility was that we had to begin the process of meeting the greater needs within the community. We are glad to say that we have sealed the deal and the hospital formerly dedicated to eye care is now being transformed into a general hospital.

The purpose of Supreme Task International has always been to penetrate the darkest corners of northern India with the gospel of Jesus Christ. Acquiring this hospital is another step in that direction. Our desire from day one is to minister not only to broken bodies but to broken spirits as well. This is also the heart of the wonderful Doctor already hired along with 20 other staff. One of the greatest needs in the area is for surgeons and gynecologists. Well we are thrilled to inform you that the doctor hired can perform both!

Our special thanks go to Dr Olaitan Adeniji and our medical team from Atlanta, GA and our team from Tulsa, OK and Jacksonville, FL for all their hard work. Their sacrifice has started a transformation process with a coat of paint, a loving touch and a brief prayer, which will result in many transformed lives. We also want to thank our outstanding staff in Delhi for their constant unwavering passion for the vision and people of north India.

North India remains a final frontier for the gospel. Supreme Task International remains committed to changing that fact. Much has been done, but much more must be done! We want to thank you for continuing to stand with us!
