STI to Take on Hospital
At the beginning of this year we shared an opportunity that was presented to us and asked you to join us in prayer. To recap, a relatively new hospital in the state of Orissa was struggling to the point of closure since the death of the founder. The hospital administration had approached our board of directors asking us to consider taking at no cost the 50 bed hospital located on fourteen acres, in the District of Balangir. This area of approximately 1.3 million people, is hugely impoverished, many dying prematurely due to lack of quality health care.
After about one year of serious review and consideration we have gotten a green light from our US and Indian boards to move forward. We believe this is an awesome opportunity that will enable us to minister to many Hindu families. This step will also serve to enhance our relationship with the government furthering our ability to expand throughout India.
The hospital, formally dedicated to eye care will be turned into a general hospital and staffed by Christian doctors, nurses and administrators. Many of our STMTC ministry training graduates live in the area and will assist us in administration, maintenance, prayer and ministry teams, etc.
We appreciate your prayers and support as we embark on this new venture!
